Chapman truncated the monocoque chassis, ending it right --
   behind the driver.---------------------------------------------------------------------
The engine was mounted to the rear bulkhead and the entire--
    rear suspension was mounted to the engine and  transaxle.------
Other teams declared that the car would fold in half at the first 
   corner.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today EVERY Formula One, Indy Car, and World Endurance--
    Cup car has a truncated monocoque chassis with its engine----
 and transaxle carrying the rear suspension.---------------------------
 It is now accepted as the "only" way to build a fast race car.--
